What is the Pelagics section on Kontali Edge?
▪ It’s a dedicated section in Kontali Edge with live data and insights on small pelagic species like herring, mackerel, blue whiting, and related feed ingredients.
▪ We regularly add more species and data sources.
▪ Pelagics is also a top-level species filter—when selected, the entire platform updates to show only relevant insights.
Who can access the Pelagics section?
▪ All existing Edge customers with pelagic access will automatically see the new section.
▪ Salmonid customers will see a new menu item, Pelagics, in their interface in Edge.
▪ Weekly PDF/Excel recipients are being transitioned to the new section.
▪ New users can contact us to request access.
How do I access the Pelagics section?
▪ Log in to Kontali Edge and select Pelagics from the species filter dropdown.

Is there any additional cost for existing customers?
No, it’s included in your current subscription if you already have pelagic access in Kontali Edge.
What if I’m not an Edge user today – how much does it cost?
For the moment you have to contact us to get more information.
When will the old PDF and Excel reports be discontinued?
The PDF and Excel reports will be discontinued in week 18. After that, all data will be available exclusively on Kontali Edge.
I used to receive weekly Excel reports. What now?
You’ll get a personal email with an onboarding guide. Your weekly data is now available directly in Kontali Edge.
I only had access to monthly data. Will I get more now?
Yes. With the Edge upgrade, you now get both weekly and monthly insights, plus extra visuals and comparisons.
Will I still get email updates when new data is published?
▪ Yes. You’ll still receive email notifications when new data or articles are published.
▪ We’re also improving the email system to give you a better experience.
▪ In addition, update alerts will appear directly in the platform when a data source is updated.
Can I still download or export data?
Yes. You can download graphs and tables as CSV files or images directly from the interface.
What species are currently covered?
▪ Atlantic mackerel
▪ North Sea herring
▪ Norwegian spring-spawning herring
▪ Blue whiting
▪ Capelin
What feed ingredients are included?
▪ Fishmeal (FAQ/65% and 64/65%) and fish oil
▪ Soya meal and rapeseed meal
▪ Grain-based ingredients like wheat and corn
▪ Vegetable oils such as rapeseed, soybean, and canola oil
What market areas are covered?
▪ Norwegian first-sale prices
▪ Exports from Norway (weekly and monthly), Denmark, Iceland, the Faroe ▪ Islands, and the UK
▪ Imports to the EU
What types of data are included?
▪ First-sale prices and volumes (Norway)
▪ Weekly export volumes and prices (Norway)
▪ Monthly export data for main supplying countries
▪ Import data for the EU, split by origin
▪ Feed ingredient price trends
▪ Graphs by destination, species, and product form (e.g., whole, fillet, frozen)
Are the charts interactive?
Yes. Most charts are interactive, zoomable, and downloadable. You can customise them using filters to show the data you need.
What time range does the data cover?
Most charts cover data from 2021 to 2025, depending on the dataset.
Will I need training to use this?
Kontali Edge is designed to be intuitive, but we’re happy to provide onboarding support or a short walkthrough if needed.
Will the new data structure change how I work?
Yes, but in a good way. You’ll have quicker access to updated trends, unified reporting, and a more visual way to explore the markets.
Can I access market commentary or analyst insights?
Yes. The Pelagics section includes Insights articles from Kontali analysts, covering key shifts, forecasts, and trends. You’ll also get access to articles on other species tracked by Kontali.
How often is the data updated?

▪ Feed, first-sale, and weekly prices: updated weekly
▪ Articles and insights: published as relevant, with notifications
